John Lawton Cullison, Jr., an artist who resides in Paia, Maui, Hawaii, has a bachelor of fine arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute of California and a masters of art degree from Ball State University of Muncie, Indiana.

His skillful use of color and transparency gives his work luminosity, a west coast style of art called visionary realism or "New Age Art".

John prefers to work on large surfaces. His subject matter often includes beautiful jungle
scenes, florals, waterfalls, seascapes, and skyscapes. His art is rendered with the combination of techniques often has surrealistic overtones. This combination produces a style of art quite different from the traditional.
